First Aid for All. To the Editor: We would like to address some of the issues raised by Sharon Joseph in her letter of January 22, 1980. First and foremost, Ms. Joseph incorrectly implied that should the courses offered through the Phys. Ed. department, as coordinated by Bob Davis, be discontinued, there would be no first aid training available to the SUNYA community. Five Quad ambulance service has always been involved with teaching first aid here on the SUNYA campus. The courses taught by Five Quad are totally independent of the Phys. Ed. program. Five Quad Ambulance, in its agreement with the University and in accordance with its By-Laws, is committed to providing the University with first aid instructioni. Therefore, regardless of any possible disruption in Mr. Davis' program, the University will always have first aid courses available as taught by Five Quad Ambulance. Due to our primary responsibility of providing emergency ambulance service, we are constrained in the number of courses which we can offer. Although Five Quad cannot supply training on as large a scale as Mr. Davis, it is able to provide quality first aid courses at low cost. -David Chafetz, President Five Quad Volunteer Ambulance Service, Inc; -Amy Phillips, Vice-President; -Daryl Zube, Director of Operations

Five Quad Commended. On March 28th both houses of the state legislature adopted a legislative resolution that "honors and commends the efforts o the members of five-quad ambulance service for their dedication to the preservation of the safety and well being of the residents of the State University of New York at Albany." This resolution constitutes the first time that five-quad has received recognition for its services on the state level. The resolution, which was introduced in the Senate by Albany District Senator Howard Nolan, and Assemblymen Armand D'Amato and Richard Conners, praises five quad for its "excellence in the field of emergency medical service," and cites five quad for having responded to over 1,600 emergency calls in the last six years. "We're honored that state officials took the time out to really take notice of what we've been doing," said Director of Public Relations of five quad Mike Lanlois. "We're really thrilled about it."
