Hello Alumni of Five Quad Volunteer Ambulance Service,
My name is Amanda, former Historian and Vice President of FQVAS (Graduating Class of 2018). I’m embarking on a massive project trying to archive the history of our beloved organization. The current focus is on compiling a digital archive to organize documents and photos throughout the past 50 years of operation. This will eventually be made available to you and the public by means of a freely accessible website.
Though I am finding a wealth of primary documents through working with the University at Albany Archive, current membership and records kept in the Five Quad office, as well as photos/articles/documents shared publicly online or from my own collection, there are a lot of gaps.
To tell the truest story possible through this archive (and possible future projects?) I need help from the people who lived this history- you!
If you would be interested in participating, please let me know!
How you can contribute:
Digital/Paper copies of operational/administrative records (i.e. invoices, bylaws, SOPs, meeting minutes, letters, officers lists)
Digital/Physical copies of photographs
a. (Please include names/events/dates to the best of your knowledge)
b. Nothing inappropriate or irrelevant to Five Quad, please!
Digital/Physical copies of news articles, publications, press releases, newsletters
Digital/Physical copies of flyers, brochures, announcements, posters
Schedule a time to meet up over Zoom or in person over coffee for an interview
Send me a written/typed recollection/testimonial
For future consideration:
a. If you have any physical items you’d consider donating to the University for an exhibit, let me know! (Patches, badges, old medical or training equipment, clothing/uniforms, old radios/pagers, award plaques, etc)
HERE is a link to submit digital content on Google Forms.
You can also simply attach content to an email, send me a link to a Google Drive/Dropbox folder, or email me to discuss other options (especially if involving physical items).
Note: All records are going to be reviewed by multiple parties to ensure that appropriate privacy and ethical standards are upheld and that proper credit is given to all sources and contributors. Even pre-HIPAA patient information will be censored if included at all. Due diligence will be taken to ensure anything that could implicate poor behavior or would be expected to remain confidential (i.e. some incident reports, correctional action taken) will not be made public.
Thanks for taking the time to read!
I wish you all the best, and look forward to hearing from you.
